Yes indeedy, the RIAA is powerless in Canada.

The millions of Canadians who share music files on the Internet should be prepared for the possibility of facing a lawsuit early in the new year, the head of the Canadian Recording Industry Association said yesterday. Brian Robertson told the National Post his organization will soon begin launching legal action against Internet music uploaders. Uploaders are those who allow people to access music stored on their computer hard drives. In some cases, uploaders freely share hundreds of music albums with users around the world.

    Too bad the CRIA wasn't!

I am still sharing 30 + gigs of music and have to wonder if I should stop sharing until this crap cools down...if it does cool down that is. I don't want to be the first to get busted or even the 100th. I really hope P2P will advance in technology enough to protect our privacy online. It would be nice to share without fear of prosecution.

The RIAA's FUD tactics have been somewhat sucessful, if nothing else.

They have succeeded in putting the fear of litigation into some previous or would-be file sharers.

Kazaa is not the network it once was.
