    Question Prankster?

    :fire

Hi. I've just downloaded what I thought were 3 Cds of Guns and Roses. Upon listening to them, I find that they ain't.
Upon trying to delete them, my PC won't allow me to do so. In the meantime, people are uploading them from me.
Is this a fault, or someone's idea of a joke?
Any ideas on what to do?
    Thanks

    Bruce

PS: The worst thing is; I'm a jazzer, and they were for another family member!

There are some spoofed files going around not sure it this might be it. But i recetly found someone on ymserver ( well someone notified me about it ) THere was tis dude that would show up on every search wit ht e same file ( him, some song from som album)

Search for madonna and he would be there
search for david bowie and he would be there

this was on every search and this file always showed up, so there are spoofed files going around, this could be sum smrt kid rying to get everybody to listen to his file or a recordcompany/riaa spoof file.

After having banned this person i dident see it happening again.

    haha

Well, this kinda shit sucks, but if you find that they are fake, and someone is downloading them from you, windows will not let you delete them because they are being used by the people download. So therefore, you need to shut down the program and then delete. Dont keep letting them download from you. We dont need more fake files spreading.

Maybe it's not a joke, just an 'inventive' way to trick WinMX. I can imagine sharing bogus files would allow such users to freely download what they want from normal users without their downloads being canceled all the time for not sharing anything.

    delete files

like Dreams said, logoff winmx and if the file won't delete, turn off your computer and restart and then delete it.
If you still have trouble you will need to go into DOS mode to delete it, that is a little harder to explain but try everything else first and if you still need help come back and ask again.

Another method to delete a file, assuming you are using windows, is 1: open the folder where the file you are trying to delete is located, make sure the window is not maxed out or full screen, now if you have your desktop to allow icons to show just drag and drop the file into the recycle bin. this will work with any file that won't let you right click it or access the menu bar so it can be deleted.

I'd like to know the command to delete files in DOS, because some viruses don't let themselves be deleted with any of the above methods.

    Thumbs up

Thanks, "Dreams". So simple, and I was thinking all sorts of tricky stuff. I've now got rid of these files, so at least no-one else can upload from me what they don't really want.
