HI guys/gals I need some help once again if you could it would be most appreciated. Here is the problem I have to connect 3 cpu's onto my lan but I only got 2 ethernet cable drops in the room, but I am in dire need to connect 3 pc's. Is there any way to split one of the 2 available ethernet drops to be able to connect 2 pc's onto it, like with telephone cables you can use a splitter to share the same plug on the wall.. TIA :)

like honestly, who does that?!?!
buy a cheapo router... or just unplug one comp, and plug it into the other. depends on what you need really, there are a thousand ways of doing it...

I'm glad it's the right one.

I don't think the one you'll be splitting will give you two full speed connections, unless its a college or company LAN... im assuming its a dorm. In that case, you can have all the speed you want, to the max speed of the CAT5. But, for instance if you pay for 2 separate high speed lines, thats the max speed your going to get, not 3 full speed, --- 1 full and 2 at 1/2 speed ---
Most people probably know this... although he may not in which case there we go.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer
Also sporting a black MacBook
Revision/Release 1
Upgraded to 2GB RAM.
lol - That is a great bit of waffling Hawkburn. Now go to bed!
EDIT: Ah, it makes a bit more sense reading it a second time. Perhaps I'm the tired one. It is nearly 6am, not the ideal time to write a resume anyway.
I would have to disagree though. I think that it wouldn't make any difference. Routers/hubs/whatever don't split the bandwidth by connection, it does it by demand.
