Awesome, I got an older DVD Burner than only does +RW, no +R which is weird.

Think ill be upgrading it over christmas, since it would be nice to burn some +Rs

Glad to see you back CCS... anyway... when I got mine almost a year ago (X-Mas 2002) I went to Blockbuster... and if you get my hint... I rented some and after I returned them, I watched them :)
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

    AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU

2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
    Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer

    Also sporting a black MacBook
    Revision/Release 1

Some people actually make real backups from their bought dvds so I don't think they'll do that

This would make a good topic for someone to research, and post the results.

This is getting a tad off topic - but there will always be ways around protection.

Just think that Microsoft thought that DRM was the best thing ever since Windows 95 - it was cracked within I believe a month... right?

EDIT: CCS -- What brand did you get? I'm very satisfied with my Sony DRU-500a, except for the fact that the (-) is only 2x write, and that's all my old DVD player will take. Plus it only burns regular CD-R's @ 24x, I gave up my 48x to my dad to make room for that and my DVD-Rom because I needed something to ughhhh -- read from and write to and the same time... :angel

I picked up a nice Plextor (I think it's PX-708UF as opposed to the one I wanted which was PX-508UF) but the difference is small..

    508 - 4x DVD+R write
    708 - 8x DVD+R write

About 80-90 dollars difference in price...I figured what the hell as I'd have to wait a week or so for the older model. It's a bit pricy though... came to like 360 w/ tax while a cheaper 'backpack' from MicroSolutions came in at 240 bucks. Usually prefer Mirco over other brands as their external drive system is very basic. Drive + Shell + LPT/Firewire/USB 1.1/2.0 control shit and a short run of IDE cable/power cable within the casing. Very easy to take apart and replace drives if need be.

Check 'em out cuz they do last...still have an old CDRW external from them that's had it's share of 'techie hell'. Little bummed by Plextors 'round drive' crap but it's quiet...the quality is as good if not better then Micro and I get to play with the laser via PowerRec Pro. :P

Edit: If you intend to go internal you'll find the same models above without the F or UF (I forget which) for much less..like 140-170 for the older one and 210-260 for the new model.

And 'blow me' to all those who wanna bitch about paying more for the external. I need to move it...alot so thats my reasoning. lol

Ugh....Easy CD 6 can suck my nads...it's buggy as hell...bloated... I shouldn't have gotten all curious. Ah well...to anyone getting a DVD R drive DON'T INSTALL "Easy CD 6" ...actually don't install Easy CD anything..it all blows. Back to Nero 5.5 for me...
