    logging in old 2000 pc's

    well guys/gals first of all,TIA :)

my problem is I recieved a couple of old p3 733 mhz pc's and they used to used by this telemarketing company that went down under(no business sadly enough) they were donated to my dad, he can't make use of them though so he gives them to me. MY problem is that I can get them passed the login screen where I need a username and a password. Problem is I don't have either, I know I could just reformat the drive and re-install but I was hoping someone else would have a better way of going about making this a bit simpler. I just want to get rid of the admin acct. and be able to make my own so then in turn I could log into what is now my pc. all reccomendations are welcome I just want to get my 2 pc's running.

    some specs:
    running
    win 2k with sp2 installed.
    p3 733MHZ
    256 MB PC133 sdram
and so on and so on.

    like honestly, who does that?!?!

in xp, you can start in safe mode and login as full admin... since xp is a lame attempt at eye-candying win2000, i would assume you could do the same in 2000. then again, i have never used win2000, so you might want to wait for someone else ;)

You're better off reformatting and installing from scratch. A lot of large companys butcher OS's to cut down on build times and get rid of parts of the OS that aren't usd by them, as well as install all their own applications etc.
Would be quicker to start anew than fix whatever they added/deleted.

Actually that safe mode trick only works with people who dont put a password when they first install win xp.

Which is about just about everyone.

Reformat, no sense in keeping the windows 2000.

I think reformatting and re-installing is the way to go. Unless, you want all the glitches & data they had with their previous installation. The are ways to recover passwords from dos too. Check out this thread I found. It has many options for password recovery.
