I had simmilar problems like these when I used the nortion suite of death. After all of my trials and attempts to get rid of it to no avail I just ended up reinstalling xp it was a lot faster and I was happy ever since then norton FREE!.

you made sure nothing is in the registry? use RegCleaner and make sure.

If there really isn't anything, just click over the name of the bin and take out the Norton Protected part in the name. Wee! GL

I have always hated Norton. It is post like this that make me trust none of their software. AVG anti-virus and Shorewall (admittedly not practicle for many) does the job for me.
I'm not really malicious. I'm a nice guy.

Norton is a little bish when it comes to uninstalling and installing other versions...many times it needs every entry to be gone...weird.
