I dont see why Shareaza is so popular? its network (primay gunetala 1 and 2) has a very lowe user count (dec 3rd - 191,386), when smaller progs like overnet have the 4th highest user count (dec 3rd - 630,784), and is not a popular prog. i just dont see why everyone loves shareaza.
everyone doesn't love shareaza--on this site, it's about 15 users that preach the book of shareazaOriginally Posted by sebfernando

i don't
i tried shareaza, and got a few files, but then i also had the other 90% of the stuff i wanted time out or never start
the real story isn't in the numbers though, it's in the files--dc supposedly has less than 200000 users, but if you want something and know what you are doing, you can usually get it pretty fast. kazaa on the other hand has supposedly 4 million users, but unless you are searching for porn, you will go through a lot of trouble to get the files you want
no real filesharer likes shareazza so who cares
While I admit it would be nice if everyone was pleased with one universal network, as long as people share, who really cares, eh?
Shareaza is making files more available, however.
i personally have nothing against shareaza, i just don't use it. As long as it's free (spyware free also) it's fine by me.
It does get extra praise it seems. The program itself has massive potential being that it has the capabilities to connect to so many networks. As of now I see it as a small player in the p2p world, but in the future I would watch out for it(could be the next best thing!).

like honestly, who does that?!?!

I'm a real filesharer (I'm not a cartoon, and I've been using P2P apps almost daily since Napster) and Shareaza is the best one I've used yet.Originally Posted by method77

It doesn't get much better than that. :tilted
I personally like Shareaza because you can download from multiple networks at once. You can start downloading a file on edonkey or bittorrent and if the download runs out of sources, you can add sources from g2 and some g1 clients. There is nothing more annoying than having 99% of a torrent and running out of sources. It is the best client I've ever used.
Leachers only hurt p2p.
shareaza is nice and all, but i don't use it.
i've been a winmx user since 2.6, and it's never failed for me. queues have never been an issue, sometimes the speed is low, but considering how isp's slant the bandwidth (i can get 380kB/s in, but only 30kB/s out... i would need 12 people with no slots used to get even close to near my max... good luck with that on some rare files).
the only other issue is the ui, and the severe retardation of the update cycle... "we'll be beta testing in october." guess what winmx developers? it's december.

Ha. I wanted to see something like this badly.
- Connects to Gnutella2. Gnutella2 is fantastic for music and ok for everything else. It's really actually pretty advanced, and is open and decentral. Many agree that it is the best p2p network around, minus user count
- Connects to Gnutella. Failing network. It's a good complement for Gnutella2 in terms of music. Shareaza can download most songs in twenty seconds on my connection from Gnutella and Gnutella2 sources. Enough said.
- Connects to eDonkey2000. eDonkey is a horribly inefficient network, but still works for larger files. It has over a million users. That is it's high. The newest version fixes some eDonkey bugs, by the way.
- BitTorrent support. A great way to get large files fast. Growing by the day.
- Excellent interface. Whips the ass of almost all p2p applications in terms of GUI and controls. Hands Down.
- Security Features, Advanced Settings, Library (Universal Hashing), Ghost Fake File Ratings, Ratings period, advanced metadata, nice home tab, good host cache/discovery services access for advanced users, windowed, basic and power modes for ultimate control, multi window searching (with a side window), download groups, user defined queues, graphing engine, packet dump for troubleshooting, search/hit windows for content too look for, skins, plugins and chat are just some of the features offered by Shareaza.
- Constantly updated, spyware free and run by an excellent group of people.
Enough?

Like you said, its good for music...almost NOTHING else
What other program has 300-500 sources for a file and either stays at active or you get a download speed of .54KB/s? That's basically how shareaza works...tons of sources and shitty download speeds (for large files)
Basically its garbage for that matter...
As for music..ya its pretty darn good :P
I like shareaza. I don't have too many problems with it. Yes I hate waiting a long time for completed files, but it is worth it.
