Thread: .Shn audio files ?

    .Shn audio files ?

    okay I download a cd thats in .shn/MD5 format
    I have never seen this format before, looked around on google and dont really under stand how I can burn this.



    any one have a program that can burn/convert this please help me out


    took me 2 days to download and I have no clue what to do

    md5 is a checksum... you use it to compare two files. it's not something you burn and listen to. i would assume that .shn is an extension for a program's output of an md5, like ms word makes .doc's for text.

    Shorten (extension .shn) is an audio compression scheme written by Tony Robinson of SoftSound that can compact wav files without subtracting out any frequencies. It's "lossless"- everything in the original wav is there, so that full quality is maintained. For many traders of live music, Shorten files (shns) therefore have an undisputed advantage over "lossy" mp3-format files. A shn file made from a wav is quite a bit larger than the corresponding mp3, with a size perhaps ~50-70% of the orginal wav. "
