If you converted it to mpeg-2, and have the latest version of nero, which you do, then nero can author dvd's fine. Whenever the wizard comes up, there will be a tab somewhere to change it to dvd instead of cd. Then you can just burn a dvd-video and it will author it.

I was under the impression that you need to use the DVD mode (use DVD-video) in nero not CD (all the options you mentioned are under burning CD mode). Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I blame Nero Smart Start for treating people like idiots. When you fire up Nero Burning ROM, click on DVD Video from the choices on the left.

I canged it to DVD and clicked on DVD video. I put the file that I need to burn on the left side and clicked on burn and it gave me this error "DVD Video files complience test failed, The resulting dvd video might be unplayable. do you want to continue?" The left side has 2 folders, 1 says Audio TS, and one says Video TS. Am i supposed to put something in there??? AHHHHH!!! I have had this fucking video for 3 months and i still cant burn it. WHat do u guys use to convert from avi to mpeg2? I use that TMPGEnc thing. Is there something better???? HELP!

Tmpgenc is fine. In fact, it's one of the best programs for it. Are you sure though that you encoded mpeg2? You may have just done mpeg1. If you're sure you did mpeg2, then just click continue and see how it comes out.

What resolution did you use? It's OK being MPEG2 but SVCD is 480x480 (NTSC) 480x576 (PAL), DVD is 720x480 (NTSC) and 720x576 (PAL).

if you use the wizard, there is an option for encoding in the different formats, I use it TMPGEnc for vcd's.

My suggestion is if you converted from avi. You would better off ripping the movie from dvd. Since the movie was probaly orginaly a dvd rip to avi. Then you convert back to dvd. And with each conversion you have a loss in quality. If your player supports it you may want to try a VCD. I usually do VCD's on Movies converted from AVI. And save my DVD media For DVD rips. I my self would rather waste 10 cents on a cd. Then $2.00. for a dvd. atleast for a movie thats going to have so so video.
