Question when you burned the dvd, did you put the files in the proper folders or did you just put the files on the dvd? Also you might want to check out www.dvdrhelp.com. Awsome site lots of guides. You can find out everything you could ever want to know about making DVD VCD SVCD.

I recommend to "find" nero since it worked before you lost it somehow.

Is your dvd player not reading the disc at all?
Are you using the same brand DVD-R as before when it worked?

sounds like your dvd is in PAL format. It needs to be in NTSC format to play in most American standalone players.

    --or--

your standalone might only play DVD+R, and NOT DVD-R (yes, there is a difference)

How old is the DVD player, if it was before about 2 years ago, that could be the problem...
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

    ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
    AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
    Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
    Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer

    Also sporting a black MacBook
    Revision/Release 1
    Upgraded to 2GB RAM.

my player does play dvd-r, but it a bit over 2 years old, if it is a problem with a pal vs ntsc format then is there a setting i missed in using shrink...
