    winmx

I have a LinkSys EtherFast Wireless Access Point + Cable/DSL Router w/ 4 Port Switch and I need to disable my firewall or open a port up or something (im not good with firewalls) so i can make primary connections to WinMx, connect faster to kazaa, etc.... last time i did this a man on Windows Chat Client thing changed a bunch of shit and then my other computer couldnt use the network after that. If anyone can help me with this, and still be able to use the network plz reply thanks.

btw, I do have admin power.

well if you dont no if its hardware or software I can kinda tell its hardware firewall because its LinkSys WAP and a Cable/DSl Router that is all hardware, and unless you have Norton Personal Firewall, McAfee Firewall, or ZoneAlarm, then its probably hardware... again I am not good with hardware firewalls.

    wish I could help more

well I think someone here may have help for you, but I have no experience with your setup. But experience with computers and hardware/software.
    and this means one thing.
you need to read your manual, the info is certainly their.
working with computers is all about learning on the fly and learning all the time.. once you know something, something else comes along and it only gets more, never less.

also you probably you can email someone at either your service provider or manufacturer of your router. for sure they would help.
first try your isp provider, they certainly get ask this a lot.

    btw
lot's of people here including me, have not had good succes with a primary connection to winmx.
I have very fast dsl and a fairly new computer. It actually used to work well with primary connect, not anymore. The current version just does not work well for lot's of people on primary connect, so do not be so eager to try it. I just mention this so you won't be dissapointed. Perhaps others here can confirm (or deny this) also it tends to crash a awful lot of peoples computer and I noted many xp users complaining about it as well...

    good luck :-)
