Lately I've become more security cosnscious, with all the security related issues in the news.
Anyhow anyone use
Eraser ?
Is it any good?
Is it easy to use?
Lets hear some opinions. :gj
I dunno...never had any experience with Eraser...my roommate uses window washer and seems to be happy. Might want to check it out.
i use window washer but what ever you do not try evidence eliminator, its very evil indeed

I use Eraser to eliminate files from my hard drive. It installs a right click context menu item, and overwrites files so that they are unrecoverable by most mundane methods. It is easy to use, and I like it. I am not sure, but I believe it is freeware.
I used eraser a while back. Erasing every file with eraser all the time is SLOOOOOWWWWWW, because it overwrites the files. But overwriting the 'empty' data on your HD once in a while is good for security and privacy reasons.
But why is it evil? :blackOriginally Posted by mr.jip
never hear of it. I had been using some other software like that but it ran when you formatted a drive and it cleaned the drive out completly. Program looks worth while Ill check it out. Thanks.

like honestly, who does that?!?!
Why does Evidence Eliminator suck?
How about deceptive business practices?

Eraser is the best wiping software you can find, also wipes alternate data streams if found on the files in question. Has selective wipe options (Gutmann, DoD, Pseudorandom, and custom.). Also open source.
I use eraser to erase EVERYTHING. who cares how slow it is! It cleans out your harddrive better than anything else! so try it out ;)
