    Unhappy playing movies

When I play movies in either real one or windows media player I get a large square block in the right side of the picture taking up a good part of the screen. My os is XP home ,processor is AMD 2800xp,and I have plenty of memorie and my hd is 120 gb maxtor I have tried everything to fix this problem but nothings worked I use DSL if that matters. When I run windows update there is a DRM download I haven't installed because I don't totally trust the Redmond crowd.Any help would be cheerfully accepted. David

possibly you are in need of the codec to decompress the video format the video is compressed in. Use AviInfo on the file to determine the type of codec you need. Once you install the codec reboot the media player and it should play. once you find the codec needed post it here if you are unable to locate it on ur own and I can try to help you find it.

What does playing movies have to do with Kazaa lite? They are both computer related? They both have the letter "e" in them?

When you have a "playing movies" issue, you post in the Audio\Video section.

Now since movies are considered Audio\Video, and playing them requires codecs, I suggest you get you one or two and see how it goes. Since most of us that have done this forever, know what square blocks look like (and some can just close their eyes and imagine them) I suggest you get you some Divx, some Xvid, and most of all . . . . the FFDSHOW filters! yeaaaaa! *throws confetti*

Anticipating that you were both lazy and uninformed, my telepathic forsight led me to post this earlier, knowing that you wouldnt see it.

Here is a kazaalite codec pack, right up your ally
    http://ke1.edskes.com/klcodec210f.exe

Here is a Nimo codec pack, just use one or the other of these
    http://www.serbi.info/soft/nimo50build9beta1.exe

and, the latest ffdshow filter, just say YES
    http://athos.leffe.dnsalias.com/ffdshow-20031028.exe

When you install Nimo, or the Kazaa codec packs, do NOT select the ffdshow filters, use the one for download here, and enjoy those videos.

Yesterday is entirely correct, you need to get that avicodec or, the G-Spot, to determine what codecs you may need in the future.
