hi everyone,
i have a problem with my dell monitor. it flickers from a yellow color to the normal color. sometimes its the normal color for a long period of time and then the yellow color. most of the time it stays the yellow color. i have heard that it could be a connection or installing a new graphic video card could help. any insight on the situation would help.. anyone know where to get a graphic card.

LOL...erm well for graphics cards, check out http://www.ebuyer.com. They range from about $35-$450 (if my currency conversion is correct).
How old is your dell monitor? Monitors are not immortal either. In fact I have seen monitors display in Green, yellow, and Blue all because of a bad monitor. Before you go out and by a flashy new video card, see if you can hook it up to another monitor and produce the same results. If it repeats the same problem, then it may be the video card.

its not an old monitor. most of the time its yellow. i wonder if the connection is bad, like maybe the prongs are bent or something. ill have to check when i get homeOriginally Posted by lizardsforall
I have experienced things like this when the pins on the cable are bent, missing, also make sure you plug in your cord all the way and screw it in tightly.
It wouldnt be the graphics card.
It could be a problem with the graphics card, although it's unlikely. More likely is that it's the monitor itself - I've had them go green or totally burn out before.
How old is it? I guess it's not young enough to still be under warranty?
most likely it is the monitor itself...its odd for a video card to act up like that. Now you could play the elimination game replace the monitor if it works with the new one then the monitor was the problem, or replace the video card and if it works then it was that the video card was faulty.

95% of the time a discolored image on the screen is a cabling issue. Either the connection is loose at the monitor or the video card or there is a bent or missing pin. Buy a new video cable, if it doesn't solve your problem you can just return it.

Was the monitor roughed up? Sounds like A) bad cable B) bent pins C) interference D)the gun is going or the shadow mask is a bit fried.
Is text a bit blurred on it?
Oh...if it is going down hill...do yourself a favor and buy a Sony monitor.. :P

i had the same thing happen to my old mac performa's monitor. my dad (being an electronics teacher) tried to see if anything needed to be resoldered, and he went on a soldering rampage with it. he ended up shorting it out and frying the gun. so we just got a new computer (it was getting old and out of date).
The simplest solution to this problem is to buy a fancy new LCD monitor.
I want this one.
