    need help with BSplayer

i have a problem. i had to reinstall windows the other day, and as a result, had to reinstall BSplayer to play my vids. so i reinstalled it along with the newest k-lite codec pack. so i go to play a video and it gives me "unknown file format". so i thought i didnt have the right codec installed, but just to be sure, i tried the same vid with Mplayer2. low and behold, it worked. however, i would prefer to use BSplayer because of all the great features it has. but the damned thing doesnt play my videos! any help???

What file extenstion are you trying to play. NOT the file name! e.g. FuddleDuddle.mpg

Then you need to configure the 3ivx filter by going to>Start>Programs>K-Lite Codec Pack>Configuration>3ivx

Once that is opened go to the "Direct Show Priority" TAB

Then at the bottom right, there should be 4 boxes with Divx3, Divx4, Divx5, and XviD.

Make sure they are ALL checked.

After you've done that, try re-opening the file with Windows Media Player OR try using VideoLan

    Hope that helps!

the file in question is an AVI, not exactly sure what format (divx, xvid, etc), but i can find out if need be.

i did as you suggested, but it didnt help any. im not sure if you really undertand what i want to do... i can already play the video using other apps, such as media player, but i want to play it with BSplayer. however, when i try to play it, bsplayer gives me the error. note that BSplayer is the only player (that ive tried_ that wont play the video. i know it can though, because before i reinstalled, it played everything i have.

edit: i decided to run Gspot on the file, and it says everthing is compatible. the file uses divx3 lowmotion. i tried using the render feature of gspot, and it says it worked.

try messing with the general settings where it says "don't load divx settings" and all that. Restart the player

i would suggest that you don't get a codec pack. just install whichever codec you need.
