Hey all--I'm aware that eMule has a credit system, but I'm wondering whether other (or all) edonkey clients have such a system as well. ie, is all my uploading with the eDonkey2000 client in vain? Am I getting nothing getting nothing in return in the way that eMule users get something in return? Also, if credit systems are non-existent (or just different) in other clients, would eMule users recognize them? ie, if I have uploaded 300 gigs and downloaded 100 gigs (3:1 ratio) with eDonkey2000, and did the exact same thing with an eMule client...would an eMule client recognize these two as being equal and not give one preference over the other? Does it reward non-eMule uploaders?
In short, I understand that there are credit systems in effect...but I'm not sure the extent to which different clients recognize each other's systems (or lack thereof).

Uploading in vain? There is no such thing. You go ahead in a queue if you have lots of credit with another client, it's not like a free burger.
eMule is the only system that has credits, it does award credits to non-eMule clients. eMule does not favor one client over another.

Oh, I didn't want to suggest that I dislike uploading. I was just wondering if one's uploading is more ...fruitful...with eMule rather than with other clients. If I'm going to upload three to four times as much as I download (which seems to be par for the course with the eDonkey network) I want to get as much back as I possibly can, and I would hate to learn that all my uploading with eDonkey2000 isn't recognized by eMule clients, which make up the bulk of the eDonkey network.
all clients do that interact with a emule client witch is higly likely...that is what I like about emule it credits other clients even if they are not emule clients. So it does work for everybody theoretically like 90%+ of the time high enough for me!

Next thing the way I see it your upload will never be fruitless or in vain because even if your uploading to other people your download will still occur.
Also when you download from a p2p client and your downloading a file you are on the receiving end and that means that you are getting something in return for sharing.
Just because someone uploads 300 gigs and only gets 100 gigs in return does not mean its a lost. Think of it like this when you first started doing p2p file sharing that you probably started out not sharing or started sharing very little then as time passed you shared more.
Its a give and take situation with p2p sharing. Dont worry I know for a fact that you do get your share of files. Sometimes it will take longer with emule/edonkey or any other p2p client. But in the end you will be happy that you got what you want.
