    Question default page

Hello, my internet explorer recorded somewhere the starting web page address which I don't want to enter into. I clean it from tools/internet options, and also from the registry editor's home page records of current user and local machine, but no use. Everytime I restart my computer, it's the same. I have to enter into it. There is possibly a way of getting rid of this problem. Could somebody help me ?? Thanks in advance ...

Sounds like you either have some spyware, adware, or a virus.

Update your virus deffinitions and do a full scan.

Then head over to http://security.kolla.de and get spybot. Make sure that it is up to date. Then do a full scan. Remove any RED entrys. Yellow are also safe to remove.

After that, go to the immunize tab. Install the browser helper, and immunize. Underneath that there should be an option to LOCK your homepage. Make sure its set to the page you want, then LOCK it in Spybot.

Phalkon pretty much covered this, but Ad-aware is another spyware removal tool that works great. A lot of folks use both. What one misses the other will hopefully pick-up. These tools work sort of like anti-virus and like anti-virus, they must be updated everytime you use them.

The reason I'd recommend Spybot over Ad-Aware in this situation, is because you can lock the homepage from ever being changed by anything.

I agree though, I used ad aware for a long time, works great.

There are a few actions that you can do to help prevent this from reoccurring again:

    1) SpywareBlaster

    2) SpywareGuard

    3) block dangerous sites in your Restricted zone

...are just to name a few. I'm sure there are more.
