I'm having trouble burning cd's. It only burns the first half of the disk and then ejects for no reason.
I doubt it's a problem with the burner itself. What could be the problem?
What program are you using to burn cd's?
WMP9 and then i tried Real Player. Both did the same. Any idea what it could be?Originally Posted by Pebbles100
I don't use either of the two...Do any write-errors pop up on your screen when it ejects?
Software issues with the burner?
Try a different type of disk (CD-R) if you can't narrow down it being a software problem/conflict.
I would also recommend Nero or Adaptec for burning software.
Nero, ahhh....gotta love it! :heart
Thanks for all the feedback guys.
Okay, the error message i get is "Cannot copy files to recordable disc" - Doesn't solve much, does it.
I doubt it's software problems, i'm no tech wizard but it's a new (2003) Pentium 4 with a built in cd burner. It all came preloaded so i wouldn't even know where to start. Last time i burnt a cd a month or two ago it was fine.
The cd's i'm using are TDK CD-R. How do i narrow it down from being a software conflict?
I've just fukked up 3 cd's in half an hour but i'll go ahead and try this "nero" anyway. Maybe after some more research.
Finally, anyone that understand's pc's very well - i have this "Backdoor.Sdbot" trojan on the comuter -http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/backdoor.sdbot.html - I doubt that's the problem but what do i know.
Either way, thanks for lookin' out guys. Props.
I would think that the trojan should be the bigger of your worries right now. First I'd get rid of that whether or not it has to do with burning CDs. Then go about fixing the burning problem.
Now stop being so freaking nice, and buy a stun gun. - Krell
Well, if it's a software problem Nero will not work either. I guess that's when you will know :) Take Potato's advice and get rid of the trojan first. Look on the bottom of the Symantec page - there will be removal instructions. They are pretty basic. Make sure you check to see if the trojans in your registry [part of the removal instructions]. I've had one before too, but you just have to delete it.
**ps - try not to keep personal info stored on your computer [such as bank account #'s, passwords, credit card info, SS#]
Deffinately get rid of the virus. Even if its not the problem, you don't want to ignore it. Usually virus's like that will steal your personal info, then load more virus's and crap on, then turn your computer into a virus spewing drone.
After that, I'd deffinately try Nero. WMP9 is a media player, its main purpose isn't burning cds, and because of that you might get problems.
My guess is you're trying to burn a copyprotected song. WMP won't let you, I thin Nero should ignore this. What media are you getting the music from? MP3? Another CD?

got that virus from kazaa yesterday.avg anti virus could get rid of the infected files but not the virus itself.i had to format to get rid of it.
I have a similar (maybe) issue with Adaptec 4. It says there is no recorder. Then it instructs me to do a 'webcheck' which results in a message saying I am not online. This happens when I am online. I have been to Roxio site and may try to update to 4.1 but I don't want any spyware.
Adapted is a very nice friendly and easy to use software. Nero is a bit more advance than adapted but does a better job imo. Maybe the problem is an underbuffer error.
Anfield Fox. is it your first time burning cd's? Did you install your cd burners yourself? It might be several problems. Maybe you need to deactivate the DMA on your burner, sometimes, Direct Memory Access caused me to fail in mid recording. Do you have another drive beside your cd burner? If so, is your cd burner master or slave?
I know it's a lot of question but sometimes, by changing just one setting, the problem goes away.
Give news
Adaptec 4 did give me this problem, that's why i dropped for Nero. If you'd like to stick with adaptec, try adapted 5. it's much more stable.Originally Posted by eastcoastgirl
If your drive is not detected by adapted, is it detected by your system?
