    Interesting Problem

okay been at this just about everyway i could think of so i thought id seek help here. you people are so nice. okay anyways the problem im having is i just built a nice new pc for meself its a p4 2.6 with Intel D865 perl mobo, ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128 and 512 DDR pc 3200 memory, and am running windows xp pro. okay now that we got the specs outta the way to the problem. when i got to play the games ive installed and try to redefine the keys more specificall the left right up and down arrow keys the games keeps putting "shift" in instead of the the arrow keys. been having this prob with a score of games. the weird thing is is that these games on my older pc dont have this problem. i know i kan manually change the bindings for the keys in some games but in others its not so easy, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. and of kourse help is always appreciated and thx in advance

1st of all, do you mean the arrow keys at numpad or the separated ones.
I once had that kinda problems when i had the language bar on and my national settings were partly finnish and partly english - that made something weird to the arrows-behaviour.

Also have You a wireless desktop or std 102 windows-kb wired and no internet keys enabled by some driver. if so, just go to (Win / Break or My Computer / properties) to system settings, choose devices / device management and keyboars outta there. Press properties of the keyboard and the mid-tab (Drivers). It should read there something like "Standard 101/102 KB or MS natural PS/2 KB". If not so, press "update driver", select the lover (spesific) setting and then Next. Then again the lover "i choose the driver by myself". Now You should see a list of compatible drivers and those with green logos are MS-Sertified Drivers. If non of these is OK, take the cross off from "show compatible devices" and You get the whole list visible.

You should choose the "PC/AT expanded..." or "Standard 101/102" and just press next and keep on going.

It will override (sometimes with a warning) the old drivers and tell You to reboot.
Just do it and check whether the problem is fixed.

That's how i have made a few times after the kb-driver has been mixed up...

You can also use the Control Panel / System or Keyboard / Key settings etc ...

These are my best advices for XP (which i have)

If you're keyboard is an old one try and replace it. other than that, windows "sticky Keys" (windows xp home/pro) may be lurking around. "Sticky Keys" lauches a command when you press shift and a certain pattern of keys, You may want to check to make sure it is disabled. If my memory serves me correctly Start>CP>Accessibility Options>Accessibility Options. and then go to the settings. While you're there also check Filter Keys and set it to ignore repetitive keystrokes. Hope that helps.

Do you have this problem when typing in windows, or is it just games? Is it all games? Wireless, PS2, or USB?

One thing tech tv recommended a few days ago was to pop off all your keys, blow the board out with compressed air, and put the keys back on.

Also, have you tried another keyboard? See if you can borrow one from a friend.
