    New Bug in songs

Well unlike the scratch bugs which are mainly on Kazaa. There's a new bug brewing this one is on DC++, Imesh, Kazaa and ares.

The song shows in full length when downloading. Looks real so a 3:50 min song appears 3:50. It plays then at like 2:30 no scratch just a song cut. I've heard of songs cutting early but this is a type of thing share dby bots and other people who i guess downmload a song then never listen to it. Continue to delete your fakes to stop network congestion. I know for sure that this isnt' all bots, ppl just need to delte their trash, if ppl quit p2p fine but it should be for fear of the riaa if zanything (and not really that) but i don't want fakes to discourage ppl from using p2p.

one would have to be a very shallow p2per in order to let a few fakes bring them down

My solution is if your IN DCC hub and you download a fake, maybe keep a notepad list of people you download from and the songs.. So you can report them and kick them out.. or find the IP thats sharing and add them to your peerguardian..

Do you sometimes get those screeching noises, like as if hundreds of people are dragging their exhaust pipe on the ground while driving? Is this the latest kind of music to hit the streets....screeching music?

    Fasttrack is littered with em.

Worse yet, is because of the multisource, you can be downloading from 3 people, 2 of them could have the whole complete file, and one could be the fucking faker, and you'll always get a peice of the shit from the faker mixing with the rest.

I hear ya, but honestly if you're (not you specifically) still on dial up, then that is your own fault, I mean how long has high speed access been out now? it's not gonna get drastically cheaper anytime soon, so it's time to jump on the train and stop dealing with the headaches of molasses

Broadband isn't available everywhere yet... I got a buddy in outside of Aurora, IL (within the Chicago metroplex...) that STILL doesn't offer any broadband. It's on the way soon, but certainly broadband is still a city luxury...

As far as fakes on DC, haven't heard any yet, but I think that's the right idea... since their mods are ruthless anyway, report the faker and that outta teach em! Yeah! :devil2

Broadband isn't available everywhere just yet. From where I live, the nearest cable is about 25 miles away, and about the same for DSL. I think Rainbow is in the same boat on this one. The only thing I could get is satelite. I would be more than happy to do that if you wouldn't mind paying for it for me. :upside

You hit it right on the head. The only thing that's available here is dial-up, and satellite. And satellite is mad expensive. If it gets more reasonable it the future, I'll be the first to sign up.

Theres a hash ip i added to peerguardian, and it seems to work, I tried it on three of the newest albums released. So far it has stoped screeching, I had kazaa running and downloaded it from FIVE USERS.. and i got the screech.. And then i ran peerguardian.and it blocked two of them.. BUT You must set it at 100 percent.. so its fully effective.. I posted the ips on afew threads.. let me know if you need it.

I've never encountered a fake file. But then again, I never use Fasttrack. For music, I use slsk(mostly) or winmx(occasionally) and that pretty much covers it. No problems with fakes there.
Please help me get my free IPod and get one for yourself also!

That screeching is terrible, how does a song get to be that way?

In a sense they are, but on the other hand they're not. I notice once i start d/l a song if its a fake or not. The screechers are filled with empty spots and it d/l at amazing speeds. I average 4-5kb/s on my 56k connection, when i start to d/l a song and it's a fake i'll pull 10kb/s and up. Once i was pulling 25-30kb on my 56k modem (physically impossible). Oops, cancel that d/l cuz it's a fake... the other downside to that is I then have to find a file with a greater bitrate which means increased size. Oh well, can't win em all.

well one thing is a fake, downloads so fast it's hard to preview b4 it finishes with broadband, with 56k u can delete it without having to go through your whole colletion. Broadband is still better of course but it's not 100% bad having 56K.
