    CDs that you can buy.

I've been using the RIAA Radar search often to check out bands that I like and decide whether or not to buy them.I'm building my own database of CDs(mostly metal bands) that are under labels that are not members of the RIAA.Here's the link to the search - http://www.magnetbox.com/riaa/search.asp
I'd like to encourage others to use this search, and add to the list since there are some genres that I don't follow too much.If they come up as safe you should buy them(speaking for myself too), so we can support our favorite artists. If they show up as an RIAA member, you should not buy the CD, even if you like the artist, so we can stick to our guns as to not give the RIAA any support for their actions. You can support the artists in another ways, like going to live shows.

We'll start out with one of my favorite bands - Nothingface. All of their albums come up safe with the exeption of one which is - Skeletons (+1 Bonus Track) which is under Universal/Island records, but their TVT release of skeletons is safe.

Anthrax - All albums are under RIAA releases with the exception of:
    Fistful of Metal - Caroline
    Armed and Dangerous - Caroline
Volume 8: The Threat Is Real - Tommy Boy
    Stomp 442 - Edoya
We Have Come for You All (Limited Edition) - NuclearBlast
    Moshers 1986-1991 - Connoisseur Coll.
    Collection - Spectrum
We Have Come for You All (+2 Bonus Track) - NuclearBlast

anybody have more artists to add?

Yes, this is a good site. I cleared my bands on this site and they all checked out.
How come CDs from independent labels cost more than RIAA CDs though?

i think i'll play it safe and never buy another one ever

lot easier than researching and whatnot

how many use aol? or warner cable? aol (god forbid) road runner? if you do, you fund the RIAA indirectly, since aol time warner is one of the big 5 record labels

do you have any sony electronics? another big 5 label, if you do, you are indirectly giving money to the RIAA

if you want to crush the RIAA, there is a lot more to it than just not buying cds

Finally, someone who thinks outside the box. :gj
I cannot believe how many ppl out there just say "f... the riaa I am never buying a cd again". It is ironic that sony produces cdr's and burners but yet funds the Riaa.
BTW thanks Winphuk for the link

I can't really agree with this so much. Although independent labels often charge as much or more than the RIAA, they have considerably less clout and are FAR less lucrative. I always buy CDs of the bands I like. Fortunately none of the bands I like belong to the Big 5. Supporting the underground is an important step to dissolving the stranglehold of corporate music.

That site is also very useful for determining what is safe to share. Just punch in the artist's name, and if the particular song is not on an RIAA label, share away!

That is so logical and simple it's wonderful! It goes without saying artists under those labels are garbage anyway. I wish everyone followed this.
