    Haha

This topic makes me wonder if it'd be possible to get your name legally changed to ;-)

I mean, Prince got his changed to some weird symbols, so why not! Actually, first name ; and middle name - and last name ) would be really cool. I had my name changed a few years ago; too bad I hadn't thought of this at that time, or I mighta gone for it. ;-)

    Gotta love the humour!

Maybe Zeropaid could patent the O.

Anyone, anywhere using a O would pay royalties to US.

Nah. I think I'll patent the wheel. Then sue everyone, everywhere who is using one without permission. I know a lot of little 12-year-old kids who ride bikes!

This is so obviously a hoax it defies logic, for someone to attempt to do this for real immediatly means that no one would EVER buy anything from them. I hope I'm right.

Weren't these expressions invented by Yahoo to start with? Or is this Despair's attempt to sue Yahoo and Hotmail for the use of that smiley in their messengers now?

I'm glad in some jurisdictions that this sort of thing won't happen, because it is not worth registered, especially a smiley.

Kersten then intoned gravely, "Let our message to trademark violators be clear. Whether you are a 4th grade nothing using your momma's AOL account, or you are Time Magazine's "Man of the Year", we are going to hunt you down, and when we do, we're really going to give you something to :-(® about."
Do you people seriously believe this crap? It's sarcasm...

Even if they do sue, juries may be reluctant to find the defendant liable in these situations. But I don't know what the judge can do. Shouldn't override the jury, pointless having one then. If you haver juries for IP in the US, think you do.
