"I use Kazaa and the downloads are really slow (less than 1k per second). Are you throttling my service?
No, we do not block or throttle any ports on our service whatsover. However, due to the high bandwith load we experience on our servers since some competitors decided to impose limits on their high-speed service, some ports (like kazaa's port for example) have become slower. It's a bit like if everyone was using the same lane on a speedway. The solution? Change lane! In kazaa's term, that's changing your port. To do this, open kazaa and go into Tools and then options. Go in the Firewall tab, and at the bottom of the window, change the incomming port to anything higher than what is noted here. Try anything between 10 000 and 65 535 (which is the highest possible port under windows). The speed increase can be dramatic, from 1kbps on each file to up to 50-80kbps on each (up to your 120kbps limit in optimal conditions). You can actually do this with other software such as e-mule or e-donkey. Refer to their manual to see where and if you can change the port.
Well first off your shouldnt be using the regular kazaa in the first place. This being said - Kazaa Lite/K++ has this already setup. If I recall correctly, its always a random port, and the default kazaa port is disabled so your ISP/spy trackers have less of a chance to see your using Kazaa.
