Time Warner Cable goes to 3Mbps download speed

Time Warner Cable has gone to 3Mbps download speeds. Upload is still 384Kbps. This is for sure true in Kansas City, and should be correct for other Time Warner locations. Formerly the download was 2Mbps.

With the right tweaks I've always maintained 3.5mbps. You mean connection speeds I hope.

Heh, you guys suck. Our cable starts at 256/128. From there you can upgrade to 512/128, 768/128, or 1meg a sec/128. At 768/128 we're paying over a hundred bucks a month. Pure insanity really....and they're the only broadband in our area (other than dsl which is slower and more expensive)

    Man, that's fast

I'm ADSL, 1.5mbps down, 128k up. But I don't have or want cable TV, so adding cable just for some transfer speed isn't really worthwhile for me. So, I'm happy enough. Plus, I'm SBC, and they're fighting hard to keep their customer information private. They deserve my business just for that. ;)

HAHA I donno about that dude...I got a semi-machine sounding call about calling them back.

    So either

    A) They fucked up some billing shit on my phone bill or the ISP section.

    B) I'm getting the 'letter' .

    C) They're trying to sell me more crappy line addons....lol

Either way my bank account is pretty much empty...lets see 'em milk my fucking fire proof safe....

Fucking cable people....you guys suck ass! lol

Is the Time Warner ISP not really strict on filesharing? The only stories I've heard of people being accused of downloading copyright material in the UK involve AOL. It is often accusations of using BitTorrent to download films.
I'm not really malicious. I'm a nice guy.

I've been using TWC Roadrunner now for a little over 2 years and I have never received any static from them for filesharing. I'm sure they don't like it but they realize without P2P fewer people would go broadband.

In my Area of Pa. We have basically two choices Verizon and Comcast. Verizon is 1.5Mbs 128Mbs. The price is only $34.95 With MSN 8.5 included.
Comcast is $49.95 for 1.5Mbs and for the faster speed it run's about $99.00 bucks or so. Which is out of my price range.

Comcast speeds are on the rise. I've read that Comcast is raising their broadband cable speeds to 3mb instead of the standard 1.5,

Users should notice the speed increase some time this winter. It really depends on what area you live in.

My cable speeds (first was excite@home, then AT&T, now Comcast) have always been more than plenty (around 2Mbits or more). They are still raising the bandwidth, but raising the prices as well. I'd like to see more upload personally, I'd give 50KB/s of download to gain that much upload. There's lots of people in my personal darknets (cool word huh?) that want files from me and it takes forever for them to get them. It's $53 a month, but that includes free basic cable.

That's interesting that Time Warner is an ISP, and a Record Label (movie studio too). Like Sony, they too have a lot to gain from file sharing. But they are too stupid to figure it out.
People on my "cool list" in no particular order.
