This might be a dumb question, but who knows. I am now running Windows 2000 Pro. I am thinking about changing to XP. Would XP fuction properly on a 28k dial-up?

Should work perfect without any issues. But why are you using a 28.8modem? No faster connection avalable?

Youll be fine, heres an idea :]

grab 2 cell phones and add a phone line to each one, buy 2 telephone lines and use both cell phones and split the connection (guessing cell phones are at least 28k) this would probably create your own 56k :black

    you know you want it.

    Thumbs down

If your PC Processor have less than 500Mhz with 64MB memory and 10MB disk scace then stick with Windows 2000. Modem 56k are very cheap. Why don't you change your modem card instead. :sw

The problem is, I subscribe to a 56k usp. the phone lines in this area can't handle it. So I end up with 28k.

This site has a pretty good XP readyness test, but I have never used it with dial up, so it might take hella long.

I had the same thing when a few years back. I ended up getting a IDSL account from Speakeasy.net. it worked untill broadband came about there.

. xp home edition with 256mb of ram, a fast cpu unit and a good 56k modem with a tested and cleaned separate phone line is very cool.
