    Should Zeropaid have a radio?

Well I have been messing around lately and have learned alot about hosting radios on Shoutcast (Winamp) and djing and all that.
Well I found out I cant host cause you need a really really fast connection to host alot of people so I just dj and I know everything about it.
Also I could create a bot for #Zeropaid so people can send request to the dj and shoutouts.
I would be willing to help in any way to get a radio going. I know pretty much everything so there will be no need for learning :)

    So take a vote!

how long did it take you to become a "dj"?

    dj yoda.

what would you play that would remotely relate to Zeropaid? "Kill the Music Industry" by Cold? I don't see why Zeropaid needs an unofficial radio. most people either just want to listen to their own music, or prefer high quality mp3s to streaming radio (prove me wrong). the "now playing" thread is a better way to share music.

I assume in order for songs to play, they have to be on the "dj"'s hard drive, and that limits the playlist to the "dj"'s taste in music (or lack of), unless the songs are sent to the "dj", but that will create lag in the radio stream.

Well, I've listened to internet radio, but lately, because of sites like suprnova, and stuff, I stay away from most netradio stations, except some of the digitally inporteds stremes that play megamixes, lol!
    But I'd gladly help out.

Its just something for fun (Mostly for the people in #Zeropaid) It wont do no harm to the site and if people are bored one day they can just turn on the radio.
Also when I dj I download anything that people request (Thats just the way I am) So if Im playing "Crap" stuff then just request.

    So how about it?

If you make a radio station then it is yours alone. I'm not sure it is 100% legal to host an internet radio station and play copyrighted songs. Hold off on making a bot until you research the legality of it.

Well just because they have a radio station does not mean Zeropaid needs one.. that is a line used alot here and is particularly true now.

I think MoonMan is right in regards to the legality of playing copyrighted songs on a radiostation be it broadcasting on the net or radio.

From my understanding all radio stations pay a royalty fee for each song they play on air and the riaa are not too keen on web based radio stations.

It seems regardless whether a online station makes money from their station or not they will have to pay more royalties than radio stations do.

yea yoda unless you got the dough for royalties, stick to pirating music- its probablly easier anyway
the pctechtalk is a fun station and it would be a fun thing to do with all the shoutouts and all, however it might not be a good tradeoff as to the Work/Fun ratio

Voted yes, but a true p2p radio station would be broadcasted through PeerCast.

yoda, if ya wanna do it, just call it the unofficial zeropaid station, and make sure some legalese is visibly up, that officially and obviously seperates you from zeropaid. that way if you get sued for not paying royalties, only you go down and the site stays safe. cuz if you don't the RIAA will find it as an excuse to sue zp. (I mean, they can't like us can they? we spread the gospel, and they don't want that...) if you aren't connected to ZP, I think they'll ignore you.they'll leave you alone if there is no connection. They'd rather go after some other guy with a T1 playing the new unreleased popsongs.

how many genres of music do you have?
