I believe that Windows is too expensive at the moment. I'd be willing to pay up to 50 bucks for a decent OS, but never 300 or any number like that. I can barely afford to pay my bills as it is. Besides, after working with ME for 12 months because I had nothing better I don't think I have to pay for another version of Windows no matter how good it is.. not when it is freely available elsewhere.
Now if it was a reliable company with a good track record, then I might think differently.

caus ei havnt paid for windows since 98. win 2k SP4 is wayyyy beter than XP. my moms brand new HP is always jacked up. i got my opinion on what is beter based on the hours ive spent fixing XP.
Because I know how to get if for free.
Do I feel guilty? No.

2) Product Activation
3) Possible problems with older software
4) Older version of Windows is working fine. Why update?
Because I didn't want to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a not-so-great product.
I didn't pay for XP because I beta test for Microsoft and they always send me the gold versions on completion. Not that I would pay for any Microsoft OS if I didn't get them for free, of course.

My PC came with XP Home version and I hated it.
I reformatted my hard drive and used my *cough* purchased copy of Windows 2000.
