Yeah I have Winamp and Windows Media 9. With Windows Media The video shows fine, but with winamp certain videos, the video is blue, i lie not, like the video is how it should be, but the textures are all blue. it's messed up. I have the latest Divx codec, im just wondering why this has happened. if this was already said just PM me and i'll happily delete

Maybe the video you are trying to view wasn't encoded with DivX. There are a variety of encoders out there, probably the most popular next to DivX is its open source cousin, XviD. You should download the K-Lite Codec Pack, it should have just about everything you need.

Im just tuning in from the past few hours, but I am going to disagree with this on the precept that if you have the codec and directshow filter to view a video in WMP, then you have it for Winamp too.

Its my belief that its an overlay problem unique to winamp. Double check the settings in Winamp . . increase any buffer settings etc.

Krell is correct, I have had this issue watching video with winamp, it's either blue or purple. I tweaked some things and this fixed it, but now I just use WMP. I noticed that it was mostly unique to xvid's in winamp, not divx or other formats.

This problem is discussed on the WinAmp website, I think. I had the same problem and, last time I checked, they didn't know what was causing the problem.

Since then I've realised that WinAmp is poor anyway.

poor for watching videos..I use WMP for that...but for music, it's winamp all the way.

As has previosly been suggested, it may well be an XviD file rather than a plain DivX - you can check to see what codec is required using G-Spot:

XviD codecs come in a couple of flavours... you can get the one I use here:

HOWEVER, even with the latest codec, some players (most in my experience) can have trouble playing back the files (funny colours, jumpy, even freezes the player or system)

The way around this is to install the "ffdshow" filter. This uses the XviD codec but then does some fancy stuff afterwards.... and it tends to fix all the problems:

When you install, remember to tell it to only be used when playing XviD - otherwise it will also be used using DivX, mpeg4 and other codecs. Of course - you could let it run all of these too - but on slower systems you may have problems (so I've heard)... on a fast system it should IMPROVE quality.

So far as "Nimo Codec Pack" and "K-Lite Codec pack" etc... most people who know what they are talking about will tell you that installing them is a BAD idea... your codecs can become out of date and conflicts can occur.

The best bet is to just install codecs that you NEED to play the files you have. I have loads of files, and the only codecs i've ever needed to install were the following:

DivX - http://www.divx.com/divx/
xVId - as above
ffdshow - as above
Indeo 5 - sorry, cant find the url right now
AC3 audio - http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/

In the VERY unlikely event you need another codec, look what G-Spot tells you, and just search for it and download it.

Simple no? ;-)

PS - another tip for files that are troublesome is to use the VideoLAN player - this has it's own built-in decoders and doesn't use the normal codecs - sometimes this will play things other players have trouble with....

Winamp was a great player before they tried to bloat it (3.x and 2.9+). They really should have stuck with something they knew how to do, AUDIO

I honestly wouldn't bother using the video function in winamp, its pretty much worthless really. If it took less resources (like the audio part allways did), then hey, use it, but it doesn't seem a whole lot different to me other than it gives me more problems.
