I've downloaded an mpg video that is 15minutes long but stops after 1min 14sec and I cant get it to play in either Avi Preview or media player. Anyone got any ideas?
I've been told to cut and merge the 'bad' part using TMPenc or something similar, any easier ways?
You just might have downloaded a corrupt file.
I would usually just delete it and move on.
If it's something that you really want, then I'd stick around and wait for some advice. I usually won't fuck with it. Complete waste of time.

Winphuk I knew you were posting so I wanted to see what you had to say first, and I agree. It's not equitable to spend so much time trying to repair a corrupt video. Not to mention, it may be corrupted, ON PURPOSE.
Delete it and move on. In the sea of porn, there's always more fish to catch.
.
Who said it's porn?? it could be uhmm a 15 minute "educational" video. Yeah, thats it! :mellow
Krell and Winphuck are right, if it was a small video download just re download it, it will still be quicker, even if you are on dial up.
