How do I edit a full album

Ok folks, i am old and dumb, and have never mastered this one. I obtained a full album for the better half, and need a simple way to split it up, into single tracks, and label them. Notice i asked for simple, as I know we have others here that can use this knowledge also. If you post a Big dummies how to guide i will probably stickie it.

GO to Tools on this site and download freerip, that will work for u. It also recognizes most albums and songs, so u dont have to label them.

i don't think that will do what he's looking for...

he downloaded an album that is in one mp3 file...he just wants to split that mp3 into the separate songs so he can burn it presumably.

I had a great prog for separating albums into single mp3's, Just can't remember the name of it, I lost it when my PC crashed, Just type keywords "mp3 cutter" into google search and you will find it, that's what I did. Godd Luck Old Fart.

So far all I am doing is going in circles, a straight forward how to would be a big help. This will help others also, as I am sure that a great many have downloaded albums, and dont have the faintest clue how this works.

did it come with a cue file?

if not there are a few applications that can cut the one long mp3 into pieces.

But first let me know if it has a que file with it as then you can easily take it apart.

I'll get some links for the apps that split mp3's

Here is one the looks simple to use. It's trialware but you should have enough time to do your job.

any wave editor will do the job as well.
here is a simple freeware wav editor if you want to use this instead.

okay all you need to do is "aquire" a program like cool edit pro 2. load the entire wav or mp3 file or what ever it is. go to www.cdnow.com find your cd and it should give you the track times , now back in cool edit just track to the desired time, kut, paste and save. simple as that

Ok I split it, but the tracks are uneven, IE I now have songs in pieces. like one song running into another. how do i set the times, so i can obtain the proper lengths?
    Also no cue file.

If you are using programs such as album wrap and Roxio, you won't have to type in the names of the songs.

Here is a little utility that might help.

    http://www.webattack.com/get/mp3trim.shtml

with this you can fine tune your trims and also fade the songs in or out so that it sounds ok.

Try it and save a copy of each file before you practice.

Hunter, I use Goldwave 4.25 for my editing. It allows you to basically drag cut and paste from one song to another and test on the fly. I don't remember where I got the program from, but if you decide you want to try it PM me. I looks like it does the same thing Rickio's proggy does but it breaks the song out into a visual wave pattern that helps you see where stuff begins and ends.

Hunter here's a pict of what I meant by wave pattern. See the cut , copy and paste buttons and it lets you open multiple songs to edit apart or together.

Hunter, does the file have ALBW anywhere in the title?
If so, this program should seperate the tracks properly: AlbumWrap Extractor
