    cd+rw

Sportfans everywhere- I have finally solved the problem
of playing dvds on the tv,... it's simply determining what cdrw you used to burn the movie. In my case I used HP's cd+rw
to copy my disks to a cdr. When I tried to play it on my dvd
tv hookup which was a (cd-rw dvd,) so would not play or reconginize it..
amazing isn't it?? thank you'all for your imput....

THE TV would not play a cd+rw because it plays only cd-rw
disks only!! I need to buy a cdplayer that plays cd+rw disks..
plus and minus are two different formats for players.. how ever- the manufactorers sre coming out now with cd+ and minus so both can be played --both plus and minus....

perhaps you mean DVD+RW...in that case, it's a common problem. not all players support DVD+RW.

Friend you finally got it straight. cd players-will only play either
cdminus rw's or cd+rws period....so if you are burning your downloads of movies from the internet- on a cd+rw which HP has- you can't play it on your tv that is a cdminus player. very simple

According to the site I read though, DVD-RW is just as problematic.

I know DVD-R and DVD+R are supported by over 70% of the players though.

Perhaps off the point, but why bother using DVD+-RW/DVD-+R at all, you have to wait an agonisingly long time for a Divx to be converted to MPEG2.

I tried this technique and I would only recommend a DVD+-R drive for data backup purpose and NOT DVD-Video. A better idea is to get a PC next to the telly, and quiet it down. You can then play movies for the whole family. You'll be the most popular pirate since Johnny Depp :/

you just won the award for most confused person ever.

    dvd's are dvd+rw and dvd-rw. cd's only come in cd-rw.

in other words, you were not playing a cd, you were playing a dvd. the two types of media are VERY different.

okay....translation time. here's what i got out of it:

he tried to play a DVD+RW on his DVD player which only supports DVD-RW. So, he concluded that his DVD+RW is not supported on his DVD player.

    Webdub....lay off the crack bro!

Just go pay for your movies...then theres no way you can screw them up... (Maybe you can? You never cease to amaze me dude) ....the 1337ness factor for DivX is too much for you...besides you never take Krell's advice nor mine. So it's pointless to keep asking/saying shit about this topic....
