It should download at the max speed its being uploaded to you.

Those settings are for how many people you connect to at one time, how many slots for upload, and how fast your upload is set to. I think possibly how many downloads at a time. Just play with the settings when you get it.

How fast is your cable going to be btw, I can help you set it up if you want.

For example, mine is 768/128kb, or about 96KB download, and 16KB upload.

96? LMFAO Do you ever get that? I'm guessing you top out at 75-85kbs like me. I've only once or twice hit that maxed out sweet spot.

As for the dude.... well it's whatever they quote you divided by 8 (or 10 to be realistic).

Is that cuz they're quoting in bits/second or something? I used to get frustrated by Shareaza giving me unrealistic download estimates before I figured that out & changed the settings. I've got (supposedly) 400/56k, but ususally I top out at maybe 50.:mellow

I usually start out about 200, then 120, stay around 100, after about 2-3 meg I hit mid 90's, top of the 80s past that.

16KB up is hard for me to achieve, I get low 14's

Ok, basicly, I'd set max sources per file to 20 or so, leave your upload limits, and set uploads at 4 slots. Downloads I allways put to 50, because I rarely max out my connection even with that.

    Use this - http://www.raspppoe.com/

Your 'max' connection in real world specs...would be around 64kbs so your half way there...may be they over sold your backbone or your MTU is low as hell (using ME? 98?).

Ras will max out the MTU and should speed you up...unless your just getting slow upload sources on files. Do a test...search Kazaa (Lite) for "Spears" then wait till you get a shitload of sources...and download the file with the most sources. That should give you a good idea of what your max speed is...kill off the evil Spears download once you see a nice speed near or above 64kbs.

Hmmm someones a bad liar....I just laid the 'rules of the game' down...and you make up a figure...hey Homeya! : P

You'd max out at 80kbs.....and that's not even a real world figure.

Edit: Phalkon, cuz it'll help. It jacks MTU up (XP's built in PPPOE doesn't max it out). You could also use MaxMTU but why bother with the reg? Better to bypass such a thing if your a newbie.

As CCS said, you may be just getting slow uploads, there are few settings in kazaa that will change your overall speed.

    Some suggestions:
-Use the settings I gave above
    -Use the download accelerator
-Raise the ammount of download sources
    -Search for more popular songs?

I'd try those along with the spears idea before using raspppoe, why install something if you don't need to.

I often reach 105 kb/s and I have over 90 kb/s most of the time. I also have 768/128kb connection, so it depends on files you download. I can download a wide spread dvdrip of 700 mb in two and a half hours, even less.

about the original question: kazaa will always try to use your whole bandwidth, regardless of the settings, which can be a pain in the ass sometimes, if you download from several sources. e.g., if I download from irc at 35 kb/s and suddenly my download speed in kazaa goes up to 80-90, then my irc download speed goes down, which really sucks, because irc servers often go offline, so I try to download from irc as fast as possible.
It's strange, how kazaa neglects all other applications. It would be nice if one could set a maximum speed for kazaa, so that it stops stealing bandwidth from other internet applications on my computer.
