    Idea for software companies

    "get your serial legal"

A website were u could put in keygenerated serials and get them legal for a huge discount.

    Why?

Becasuse you've saved the company the trouble of packaging it, stamping it, or the bandwith to download it.

    No, what he means is,

Software companies will sell the serial for a discount price because they do not have to spend money on packaging, CD pressing, materials, shipping and other factors. That amounts to a lot of money.

What you would do in theory is, go to your favorite P2P app, Download say PS etc. Then, go to the website, and buy the serial for a cheap price. Since the company doesn't have to worry about other expenses, it can sell it's software cheaper.

it's a good idea, but will never happen. bandwidth costs pennies... boxes and shrinkwrap and the ink to print them costs pennies. the only reason we hafta pay $400 (?) for adobe ps is because they have a huge staff...

you gotta pay them with something.

but imagine microsoft, longhorn... dl'ing it in 20 minutes, then paying $10 for it. they'd be gone in a few weeks...

even $200 isn't spent for spreading a prog thru internet or boxes. if you did what you said, i would still expect to see, hmm... $190 for a $200 piece of software.

and remember, people are greedy. that's another reason why this won't work.

Nero does that basically. You download it and buy the serial for a reduced cost. I think we'll see more and more software companies doing this.
People on my "cool list" in no particular order.

I get it. Allot people to download trial software and when the period if there is one at all is up then they pay for the full verison or to unlock it..

I even got the perfect name... ShareWare!

Seriously though this idea has been done for a while now.

I doubt the software company's care very much. They are a business. And all good companies dont pay tax, their customers pay it for them. I.E. They just pass off expenses to the customers anyway. Why, cause if their product is good people will buy reguardless.
    P2P is cool....But P3P.. Oh boy!!

yeah i guess that is what i'm talking about. but i am also talking about implementing it on a grander scale for companies that dont' do shareware. (Like Adobe)

it's too much trouble, to go through, and i don't think it appeals to the software companies.
