The RIAA interest is in ppl sharing music (movie copyrights is the domain of the MPAA). However I would not be surprised if MPAA is watching the RIAA's recent tactics with great deal of interest. They might end up using the same methods in the future if they are successful.

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".

I am sure they are monitoring and some ppl have received cease and desist letters from thier ISP for sharing certain movies.
However its not as extensive and organized the RIAA's recent claim that they'll start sueing en mass after they collect enough info on ppl sharing music.

If you have $15 to $20 in your pocket right now to buy one item, which would you think will be better value for your money, DVD or CD?

    Personally, I would buy DVD!

Wow, you must have an IQ of 250 for knowing that!

Anyway, I would buy dvd, its better value..

But I recently (yesterday) bought a cd, just because I really like the artist, and he deserves my support. (and it was only 14 $/€)

    they already do

that's the BSA (business software alliance), and they send ISP letters too (mostly for Adobe and Macromedia products, no joke!)

Right now, I don't believe they track what you download, only what you share, so get it before people stop sharing it...but past that

If I liked the artist a lot, but they were signed with one of the 5 big labels, I would just donate it to them, I'm sure they allow for donations through their website via paypal. If it was an indie label, I'd buy the CD. If I wanted to get the highest quality and was really anal about quality of music, I'd just go on amazon.com or ebay and buy it used from someone that way I'm not supporting the RIAA.
People on my "cool list" in no particular order.

Krell, Phalkon30, Ken17625, Triniti, Kyle06, Potato429, wessman, Winphuk, Woflie, MoonMan, All the mods, CCSDUDE, Lamourlady, Nasrules, Alannah777, vipp, foreverboard, NDGAARONDI, metale, isus, Endersgame21, Reg0232, notbob, Janett999, and uhh you!
