Freenet fails to install.
I have tried to install Freenet many times with three different versions. Each time I try it lets me download the seednodes.ref file after the one time install of Java. After that the installer tries to download NodeConfig.exe and always fails with the warning "Download of NodeConfig.exe failed: 'creating socket'. Retry?"
Disabling my firewall had no effect. I am using Windows XP on a system that far exceeds Freenet's system requirements. My system and cable modem have allowed me to use every other P2P client I have tried without problems.
I would like to try Freenet for its increased security. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?

I am using Windows XP. As soon as I get a new CD writer (the Sony CRX220E1 is trash, dont buy one!) I plan to try Linux. Maybe Freenet will work on Linux.

failed installs
you are suffering from a failed connection to a freenet source because of network congestion. wait some time when traffic is lower (like midnight or early morning) and it will install.
