    File recovery program?

Hi, i had some trouble with Win Xp so i deleted my partitions, made new ones and format them. I reinstall Win Xp, and then i found out that i dindt backup a very important file and i need to recover it.
I try out some recovery programs (getData Back for NTFS, Restorer 2000) but i cant find the file i need.
Could someone recommend me a recovery program, to recover the file or the entire partition (if the program is on p2p much better).
Im on Windows XP Professional, my HD is a Maxtor 2B020H1 20 GB, with one NTFS partition of 18 GB and a FAT32 of 2GB

    Thanks in advance

here is a very big problem..

if the file was on a sector on the hard drive that the re-installation used, its gone!!.

no way of gettin it back.

im not too familiar with recovering data, hopefully krell sees this and can shed some light as i know he has done this kinda stuff numerous times and can provide more help if applicable.

You installed xp over that partition, I'd say you're pretty much fucked.

I know what program krell would recommend though, Ontrack Easyrecovery Professional.

    Thx Phalkon30

Since he came on as my personal spokes-model, business has dropped 300%, but he can answer questions correctly !

You run ther Data Recovery in the Raw recovery mode, it will still see the data . . . but maybe but give you a 2 thumbs up on recovering it. AND, even if it does, the data may be screwy, its worh a try.

ps: I am NOT walking you thru the steps.

yeah, I once recovered some deleted mp3's using one of those programs and those mp3's came out quite.....interesting. For example, I had The Clash - 1977.mp3 turn out to be nothing but 3 minutes of going back and forth between bits and pieces of various other beatles and interpol mp3's I had on at the time.

and this was data I had JUST deleted, I didn't overwrite it or anything. best of luck though.
