DVD Burning

Can you write around the edge of a DVD and then burn it? Can You do the sam with PS2 And XBOX games?

LOL, you mean "write" as in burn with you DVD burner, or "write" as in, actually pick up a sharpie and color on it? I don't know how (or why) to do the first one. But if you mean you wrote with ink on the outer edge, it might still burn, depending on how far you went into the center and how much data you're burning.

compact disks and dvds burn from the inside out, if you mark on the outer edge of the recordable side, you should be able to record up to where you marked.

if you're talking about writing on the other side before burning, sure! by all means go ahead and write!

i think what he's asking is can you burn to the same dvd twice... like burning to a cd-r two times...

the answer to that would be, what type of dvd is it?

obviously, dvd-rw can be written too more than one time, since rw means rewriteable.

but for dvd-r, im not sure. i know that in some cd burning programs, you can select to be able to burn more than one time to a cd-r.

i dunno if you can do the same with a dvd.

I also thought he meant like pick up a black felt pen and write on it. No I don't think that would work. but if you have dvd-rom drive and a burner, just get the program dvdxcopy to rip the movie to your hard drive, and then burn the movie onto two cd-r's this will save you money from having to buy the dvd-rws and the dvd burner. this is what i do once in a while, not very often. and for the videogames you need a modechip and need to know how to install them, so just stick to buying games, look on ebay their cheap there.

That's through the use of sessions, I believe. They don't close it, or they do, but they don't finalize the disc. Something like that. I think you've always been able to, but they just haven't termed it that way before.

As for his question, I believe his is talking about writing, as in printing, with a sharpie or something. That depends on which side he writes on. Either way, why not just wait until you're finished?

you could make sessions or write to cd without closing it, my software did it.. But you couldnt play it til it was closed.. But what do i know, Im not a high priced lawyer backed by the riaa to devour you in a court setting.:cross

i think u will all find he means with a felt tip pen not so long ago there was some audio cd's released with new copy protection on them.it was thought that if u wrote round the edge with a pen this would get rid of the protection thus u could copy the said disc!!!!!! :;)and sorry to say this dont work with dvd's i use dvd x copy express to back up MY!!!!! dvd's it does a great job
