What is the best software for viewing .vob files? Or how do I view a .vob file?

I believe vob is the extension used for DVD format.

Get a player like ZoomPlayer or one that says it plays DVD's

Well darnit! Can I view a .vob file WITHOUT burning a disc?

The file is too big 1,000 mb to burn as an image.

Darn this .vob file. It's a good flick though....so I'll give it a try.

With PowerDVD I figure out how to open a .vob file, but these are the messages I got.

"The hardware-accelerated decoding function provided by your display card is not available."

    and

Because you switch to an unsupported display mode, the hardware-accelerated decoding function provided by your display card is not available.

"Please close PowerDVD and execute it again. If this message appears consistently, please verify whether your display card is installed properly."

    I have a G-Force 4 graphics card, P4 2.2Ghz CPU.

mounting does not mean burning, i think you misunderstand. this file you're talking about is the exact when i used and have.
;-) (i know what it is)

mounting is pretending like you have the cd in a dvd drive or whatever. you can still mount files over 1 gig, i've done it.

ok open up alcohol 120% and at the bottom you should see "device" thing showing your computer, virtual cd/dvd rom, and physical cd/dvd rom. on the virtual cd/dvd rom (first make sure, everything is spread out, meaning click on the little "+" sign so it spreads out and that you see everything), then right click, and do "mount image." then select and find the .vob file. it should be mounted. now go and find that file you originally have (that .vob again, not the mounted image), and open it with PowerDVD. if that doesn't work, get a trial version of WinDVD (i know it works for sure with WinDVD) and try the same thing with that instead of PowerDVD.

Damn you people...so fucking complex and so friggin' off....

Open PowerDVD....go to the 'file source' menu (ctrl+O)...select "Open DVD File on Hard Disc Drive" and add all the vob files to the playlist by selecting the first then holding shift and selecting the last then hitting 'add'.

And to the dude bitching about people sharing vobs on DC....if you want an exact copy even if you can't burn it without a DVDRW drive and two 4.7gb discs....then you'll take the time to download the big ass vob files. If not they should be sharing ripped and vob format files....give people a choice.

Thanks Sockfulloflove - that was the ONLY way I was able to open this file. PowerDVD kept giving me the error messages I listed above. WinDVD played the file after mounting it with Alcohol 120%.

The quality of the file is definately NOT DVD material.
