    BT Corruption Control?

    Hi all,

I'm normally able to manage my codecs and all, but this one is beyond me.

I've downloaded 2 files this week and both times they have been unable to play in ZoomPlayer, DivxPlayer, WindowsMP, I can't import them into Windows Movie Maker and Divx Fix don't work on them. They are popular BT files with many sources, and I'd expect with the hash and checking the file would be corruption free, but what do you ppl think? Would it be codec related or download corruption? Any proggie that I can save atleast some of the file (half?) Thanks.

    Question

Have you tried playing it in Winamp? Also, what is the extension on the file? Is it OGM, perchance?

AVI, next to the torrent link on the site it says DIVX, but I got DIVX, SMR and XVID and all the other codecs.

    Check the file with GSpot.

If it is indeed corrupt, GSpot usually tells you.

Also, if it is by chance an ogm, here is a nice little guide I stumbled upon for them

    No . . no . . no . . no no no no

Thats not what I am asking you, I said "what is the EXACT file size, and name" . to PM me with it . .

I cant verify that you didnt download CRAP if you dont give me anything to work with.

You right click the file, go to properties, and see what the size is, then to Advanced, and see what it says there.

Then you state the Media error like: "OH! I just dont feel Like it"

Ken17625 is right, I didnt mention it yet as you said you thought the codecs were all installed.

I'm not going to bust my nuts to help someone that isnt willing to do 1 minute of investigation for me.

Use G-Spot, gather the info, just dont say the tilte here. . . .

I'm too not in the mood for this right now . . sorry, going back to bed.

    Download this - http://www.dawnload.net/video_softwa...directshow.cfm

Install it and try playing the file back in WMP 6.4 Start Menu > Run > mplayer2 > Hit Enter

Also try changing the extension to .ogm and setting WMP 6.4 up to play .ogm files.

Also if you wish to pull the OGM apart download this - http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net/?page=faq

Unless you're sure of what you're doing it's very possible you messed up the file with Div Fix. Open up the .torrent and make sure BT states you have the file as it's meant to be.

Ya, I got the right file, BT++ hashed it and started uploading again to others. It's very strange, plus, I have 2 coppies of the file for every app I try on it, so I didn't use Divx Fix on the original, the only proggies I use on the two files are players.

Besides this problem, BT is great, I just can't figure out why I am having problems with this one file and never any other files.

Did you use Gspot on the original or the one you changed with DivFix? There's only a few possibilities I can see here:

    1) You used Gspot on the file you altered with DivFix which is why it doesn't show up as a valid avi.

    2) You're using Gspot on a file that's incomplete which is why it states the file is invalid (BT++ can be a bit buggy).

    3) The original file is VERY corrupted (the least likely possibility).

With the checking BT does it's pretty much impossible to end up with a corrupted file (or at least corruption that was caused during transfer).

I'd suggest you delete any extra copies of the file you have floating around your hard drive, re-open the torrent with the official BitTorrent client, and then check it with Gspot.
