I am known amoung my freinds to be a very paranoid person, which is why I am posting here. :) I got online this afternoon to download a video from Kazaa Lite and I wasn't on very long, but when I came back to the computer I noticed someone had uploaded a song from me. I am afraid that the person could have been tied in with the RIAA.
The only kind of songs I have downloaded or had in my shared folder were songs that were live, either from concerts or tv, none were from actual cds, and most of them were videos. I only had 19 files in there.
So I just need someone to tell me I am safe :) Also, is there a log that you can access somewhere within Kazaa Lite that records what your download and who has downloaded from you?
Thanks,
Emma
You're safe. I've shared well over a hundred gigs of videos and music for quite some time and never been caught. They don't care about 19 songs, especially live recordings. They have bigger fish to fry.
People on my "cool list" in no particular order.
Krell, Phalkon30, Ken17625, Triniti, Kyle06, Potato429, wessman, Winphuk, Woflie, MoonMan, All the mods, CCSDUDE, Lamourlady, Nasrules, Alannah777, vipp, foreverboard, NDGAARONDI, metale, isus, Endersgame21, Reg0232, notbob, Janett999, and uhh you!
I don't mean to sound "awful", but why do you think the person is tied in with the RIAA?
As TFO said, they have bigger fish to fry.
That was wrong!!! LOL But very funny!!:fireOriginally posted by janett999

Yea, that girl is nowhere near ready for notbob!!!downloadalot....gave me a laugh too!
Yes, I guess he is. But he would scare somebody as nervous as that girl seems to be! You kind of have to get used to his brand of humor.but....notbob....he's ok!
This is a bad time for someone to just be getting started in file-sharing. Those of us tha thave been at it for a while have seen the various threats come and go. And I think that this one will blow over too. But it is a scary climate for someone who has not seen any of this before. It will be all right eventually.
DO you really think it will be that long? ES5's technology sounds promicing and Freenet is moving along. I don't think the major threat is here for very long, maybe 6 months, when there will be more backlash against the RIAA.it tells me you think all will be ok....but....not for a long time!

you'll be fine. live recordings i dont think are copyrighted (unless there is a cd from the artist called "hey, listen to these LIVE songs!")... so don't worry about it.
oh lordy, looks like we have another es5 fanboy (aaron73153)... at least, he's getting there.

It's alright, the RIAA would look ridiculous trying to bust someone with 19 files, and yes don't be scraed I have been sharing since the summer of 1999 and I have never got caught or have gotten any letter/warning.
Sorry, it wasn't meant to be. Just my way of saying sooner or later. I don't personally believe it's going to be a long time. These RIAA goons will see the futility of this. Probably after the first round of suits. If there is ever any in the first place. This all may just be a scare tactic. It's been said before in these forums, sueing(sp?) your target customers is not a good way to stay in business. So excuse my French, but :finger 'em!!!that word you used "eventually" is a "trigger" word to me....
