I have the same system as you by the look of it, try Tools/Options/Advanced /Max Hits change value to 64, if problem persists go to 32.
    Cheers

I have the same specs except for 610 MB RAM and it never gives me trouble, file sharing services tend to use system resources!
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):

    ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
    AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
    Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
    Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer

    Also sporting a black MacBook
    Revision/Release 1
    Upgraded to 2GB RAM.

I have the exact same problem!! I've got 512 RAM and 2.2GHZ cpu, and over 5000 files, and after ONE minute, the program locks dead. I'm really getting annoyed now... I think somehow it is the new version 1.5.1 that does it, because it worked fine on older versions.

oh btw it locks up even if I'm not searching... so changing max hits isn't going to do anything.

try sharing less files in one folder. like make each folder less than 2 GB. Cuz shareaza has a problem with too many files shared in one folder...:hole
