    Question Remove adware from Bearshare?

    Hi guys,

All this chitter chatter about Shareaza vs. the Gnutella world has been going on for a while. Then I realized that I have never tried BearShare before. I tried LimeWire (AquaLime actually) and found it a little bit slow & bulky on my WinXP system (Java stuff tends to do that).

But I went to install BearShare and stopped because I noticed that there's adware there. Is it possible to install BearShare and remove the adware with Ad-Aware? I didn't install BearShare yet, because I'm not too keen on installing stuff on my system that I don't want.

    Any thoughts?

Yes you can get Bearshare and later remove the Adaware and it will work fine..

You might want to also try some of their betas because they don't contain adaware

an even easier way is to never install it in the first place

there are lots of options better than gnutella out there

Thanks Evil_Dweller_01, I think I'll try the betas out. I might as well try out the latest version.

@ notbob: I use eMule most of the time, but occasionally I'm looking for smaller files. I'm not too keen on Shareaza, too all-encompassing sometimes. WinMX isn't bad, but development progress seems to have slowed.

I haven't got a clue on the BearShare matter, but it's been a while since you've been around, goweropolis!

Thanks for noticing Nas. I'm always browsing the news, if not posting in the forums on a regular basis.

You look like a regular Nas, what's the dealie on the ZP hub? PM me if you like.

This is a portal site if people want to try other programs then they have the resources here to do so and so please dont "reccomend" other programs if the topic has nothing to do with it.

So promoting other programs in program forum is not going to be allowed.. Meaning your posts will get splited and removed.

To answer the question, yes you can install bearshare and remove the ad programs and it will still work. They should come with their own installers too but whatever ad removal program is just as good..
