I've recently been using 2.5.3 of MLDonkey and have got to say that I am pleased.
It's connectivity between so many networks is incredible (especially on edonkey [when I'm on the silentbob server]). NO I'm not hybridclient and YES the guy/girl can be a bit off sometimes, but overall, I'm pleased with this client.
BTW its connected to DC, Soulseek, eDonkey, Fasttrack, OpenNap, (and on the download screen where it says "ed2k: " you can enter in a bittorrent link like "http://suprnova.sharelive.com/torrents/blah.torrent" (<-- not a real torrent) and it will gather sources fast and begin to download the file.
Two thumbs up:fire
Good to see our Linux buddies are having success with MLD.
Im with WinXP but havent gotten it to work. I think I'm gonna try Knoppix, damn Radeon 9000..... <---- Doesnt work with Mandrake, at least when I tried, the screen was just black hehehe.
My current setup stats (like anyone cares...):
ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
AMD 4400+ Dual-Core CPU
Windows Vista (Ultimate 32bit)
2 GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS RAM
2x250 GB (in RAID 0) HDDs
EVGA GeForce 7950 GTX 512 MB
Creative X-FI Fatal1ty XtremeGamer
Also sporting a black MacBook
Revision/Release 1
Upgraded to 2GB RAM.
I tried it with XP too with not much luck but under Linux (Debian) it worked fine.
I agree MlDonkey is doing a Great Job. I love it!. The only thing they need is a nice interface but that doesnt bother me at all.
Nice avatar .::BeatFactory::. ;)
Who Carez Anywayz
Yeah the interface is a bit plain, but hey, if it does the job, I really could give a rat's ass what it looked like. It's just extra eye candy.
Thanks about the avatar...yours is great as well.:fire :fire :fire :fire :fire
ok i am currently using linux mandrake 9.1 (it's my first day using it, so bear with me). but how do i install and run mldonkey? or even any p2p!
You can either use the RPM that is available for mandrake or you can download the tarball source, extract it and run mlgui and mlnet as well.Originally posted by Sockfulloflove

If you're trying to get p2p or other similar apps running on Mandrake, may I suggest going and looking up the Penguin Liberation Front. They make good packages for mandrake, and they explain well how to install them.
Once you get the sources set up, you can just go in the control panel for urpmi (probably just called Install Programs) and selec MLDonkey there.
MLDonkey also releases static binaries, which means you can just download the package, unpack it (like unzipping it) and run the file. There should be a readme in there to help you out.
I have had some sucess with MLDonkey, but I almost like xMule better. I would recommend trying both out.
Hope that helps,

the only p2p's i've successfully installed so far have been edonkey and gtk-gnutella. thnx for your help/tips beatfactory and isamoor, now i'll go try your info.
Hey, gtk-gnutella is some good stuff actually. I have real good luck using that program all the time. I hope you've got the final .92 stable release of it. If it's not a stable release, it'll only work well for 90 days or so. After that, other gtk-gnutella clients will ignore it. I don't really connect to many other gtk-gnutella clients (there aren't that many) so it should still work without them.
The official edonkey app is okay, but they don't really have a current gui for it. I always run into a buncha bugs and corruption with it though. I really recommend either MLDonkey or xMule/LMule for ed2k on linux.
For MLDonkey, make sure you read the documents. You have to edit the downloads.ini file to initiate most of the networks. It's none too difficult though.
