um for macintosh you should look for an open nap client something along the lines of aquisition.
i dont know if its open nap but what from i gather you should try it.

1 - Aqua Lime (I think thats what it's called) seems good for Mac. Then you have Neo which scans a load of IP's and leeches off the FT/Kazza network...it's a leech tool and nothing more so expect shit from people who don't like leeches.

2 - The images? Avatars? Signatures? Wingnut can run down a 2 page post about the wonders of avatars....

3 - All you fucking want as long as you don't flame other users without good reason or you skip debate and just go straight to 'fuck you you suck' type posts.
