It would be nice if some of them would just accept a hint. Setting limits shouldn't be necessary.

if you don't want to see the sigs, you can turn them off.

People dont accept Hints, and some of it is really getting obnoxious.

We have discussed this in the hub, and tried not to legislate it, except for the ones that obviously arent acceptable.

My pick isnt as large as some, but I will gladly lose it if we can knock off some of the nonsense. I think we need to set some standard or generally accepted rule of thumb for lines, pic size, and content.

Turning off sigs may afford some individual control, but it's really just putting a bandaid over the real problem.

    From the k-lite.tk forums...
Signatures will be restricted in size and content. Signatures may not excede a 495x150 pixel area, this includes all images and text used. The total file size for all images contained in a signature may not excede 100,000 bytes. Signatures that do not comply may be removed or edited by a moderator or administator.
Granted they allow avatars up to 80x80 pixels (used to be 64), so they do things a little smaller to conserver bandwidth, but all you really see is the post, which is really nice. You can still have multiple images or text links in your sig though. Overall it creates a very clean look.

I'd say these dimensions are reasonable...here is 495x150 pixels if you're curious how big that is. That doesn't have to be a final, but I think we should find something in this size range

EDIT: Forgot about the white background here, I revised it to make it more clear how big that is. Its a pixel off on both sides for you smart asses btw

lol, i dont mind sigs that are pics, like phalkons (in fact, the dilbert strip today is hilarious) or krell's... just all the text, you actually almost wanna read it all. lol. also, i can get past krell's pic with 3 clicks of my scroll wheel. it takes at least 456159451365 clicks to get past romantic guy 50's, for example.

I'd go with a MAX of 200 for height and like 300/400 for width.

I'd prefer all sigs (images) to be around the size of mine as it won't screw anyone up...even if they're browsing ZP at 640x480. And a few lines of text along with your 'banner/signature' image if you want one.

I must agree....Romantic's signature is fucking insane...almost as bad as that one with a shitload of Eminem lyrics....

I would just set limits on picture sizes, and have unlimited text, if that is possible.
Most long signatures are made up of images, not text.

To be honest, while I wouldn't mind change, I'm so used to it that it doesnt bother me anymore.

I think what bothers me the most is when people put dividers in their sigs
    --------------------------
    like this
    --------------------------
that way you can't tell when their post ends and when their sig starts
    ------------------------------------
    Anoyed yet?
    -------------------
    Remind you of anybody?

Honestly, I think we should have a text limit, and a picture limit.

Ten lines sound fine for text?
    ----------------------------------------
This is 500x200 pixels, I'd say that would be a good max, what do you guys think?

To me the long (and I mean the really long ones) text sigs are more annoying that pic sigs, but that just me.

However, if there is majority decision to go smaller, I don't mind reducing my sig size on sig pics (not too small though, lol) too much.

If I was the type to get annoyed, some of them could possible get on my nerves just a bit.

I would like to think a bit of consideration and common sense could be used by the members. I don't like to see more rules have to be added. That just makes more work for the people who look after the forums.

    Just my opinion.
