    Question Tweaking?

Is there a way to tweak WINMX so that it can download faster? I have a cable connection but i can only go a little over 1K/s most of the time. Is there anything in the settings that I can change to make things faster?

    Talking Try the secondary connection

I tried my secondary connection, on advice from other users, and it worked for me (DSL)

I would also change the ports that Winmx uses, I did this recently and it improved my download speeds.

here is an informative webpage that explains in detail:

    Cool

Another thing that could cause a slow download speed is the amount of bandwidth you have allocated to your uploads and downloads. If you do not limit the bandwidth of your uploads, your downloads will be considerably slower. To adjust the bandwidth click the bandwidth icon, then click the "adjust incoming and outgoing bandwidth" icon. If I am currently downloading a file, I always check the box that limits the amount of bandwidth allocated to uploads. If I am not downloading at the moment I uncheck it. If you play with this feature, you will notice an instant increase or decrease in your download speeds. For my primary connection, I limit the amount of upload bandwidth to about 85% of my total capacity and it seems to strike a balance betweeen a good download speed for me and an ok upload speed the other sharer. Again, I only put a limit on uploads when I am downloading.
