eDonkey2000 can protect you from the RIAA?

There's an article at Zeropaid claiming that eDonkey and Earth Station 5 makes it harder for the RIAA to get you.

Is this true?

Is this techique employed in emule as well?

ed2k is not secure at all and is also serer based. Edonkey has never claimed to be secure either, i don't know where the editor got that idea from.

The article is just flat-out wrong. However, I'm willing to bet that the RIAA is only going to go after FastTrack users, so in that sense eDonkey users are "safe."

yeh especially since ed2k is not a music p2p net. But the MPAA I bet is interested in ed2k.

The article is completely wrong, although I'm guessing that the author got this idea because most of the emule mods have a built in IP filter that can block connections to supposed bad IPs. It is basically a built in peerguardian. This may help some, but it is far from being secure.

I have also heard since eDonkey and Overnet download in chunks instead if from one source it suppose to be harder to track, but no matter what if your sharing your open.

There's always someone that likes the programs that have to say stuff to make peole want to use it. And now its the IP hidding and crap. You will see more programs now saying that to get poeple to use them.
