Kazaa downloading frenzy: defiance or suicide?

I've been on somewhat of a downloading frenzy on Kazaa, (harkens back the final days of Napster), I'm using PeerGuardian although it is little protection, am I engaged in an act of defiance to the RIAA or askin for my butt to be hauled to court?

I really wouldn't know at the moment. They certainly can't sue everyone and if this becomes a long drawn out battle i'm guessing that they could lose an absolutely huge amount of money overall, lawyers fees paying companies like BayTSP and Mediaforce (and ES5!) < j/k !!!!!

If people continue swapping there's a possibility that the RIAA could go bankrupt, they are also going to recieve a lot of flak for this. Can they sue 14 yr olds in the U.S? I guess their parents will be footing the bill.

I think we'll see what'll happen after the first volley of these lawsuits. This may scare the sh*t out of a lot of file sharers but will surely give the RIAA bad publicity.

I'm afraid it could just be a case of wait and see.

PS: The day that the RIAA go bankrupt is the day that a lot of people will be very happy :fire

I will continue to use Kazaalite K++ and Imesh. I use Peerquardian and Sharewell at the same time. The RIAA can kiss my .A** as far as I am concerned. I download every day. I maay not have as many files as some of you but I like what I got, and am willing to fileshare for as long as I can.

Different ppl will have different motovation for stayng on and sharing on kazaa. One thing for certain is that ball is now in RIAA's court. Personally I don't they have been success at killing large-scale filesharing by scaring off (being the cheap way to reach thier goals) ppl based on just the numbers on kazaa.

They made this grand gesture/bluff/warning/threat (whatever you want to call it) that'll sue any and all p2p users regardless of how ridiculus it sounds in practice. I guess we'll see if the RIAA can put it's money where its mouth is and risk alienating thier future customers (that is if they manage to get rid of large scale filesharing) with draconian tactics.

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".

You can download all you want with impunity. They are going after SHARERS, not downloaders.
Avoid the rush, to getting sued. Get real secure file sharing with Earthstation 5. ES5 uses proxy servers and SSL encryption to completely hide your ip address and file sharing activity.

My filesharing habits have changed not one iota in light of the recent hullaballoo. The only interruption I can see in the foreseeable future will be when I move all my computer equipment from its current location in my house to another room and set up the network again. I may be offline for an hour or two...

The RIAA: Here, you can have $13 for all the years we ripped you off.

    My response:
"That's ok, keep your $13 and I'll settle my claim via p2p."

I am continuing my downloading frenzy that has recently expanded to include movies as well as music. I haven't used Kazaa lite much lately though ,not because of the RIAA but I was getting 85-90 % fake files there. Very frustrating. I am now getting most of my movies from Clean Imesh (Dr Damn's version of course)
