    Late notice MSWindows Update

I was alerted to download this MS update tonight.

"Flaw In Windows Media Player May Allow Media Library Access (819639)
    Download size: 1.9 MB, < 1 minute
An identified security issue in Windows Media Player 9 could allow an attacker to see certain information on your computer after you viewed a Web page. For instance, this issue could allow an attacker to view information about your media library and modify it. By installing this update, you can help protect your computer. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed"
So what do you guys think? Just a strange coinidence with todays announcement? Or does this actually leave your computer open to more fiddling by the RIAA. Guess it doesn't matter if you don't use WMP9, but sheeze this sure looks suspicous. High time to make those ghost images I've been meaning to do.

Doesn't surprise me being that XP, isn't nothing but a "virtual piece of Swiss Cheese", with all the security holes in it.

I received that update this morning.

I wouldn't give it any thought........Are you suggesting some sort of conspiracy and this new patch actually makes you more susceptible to the RIAA?

All it is, is an update to WMP9, which of course fixes up a security issue (classic Windows), or is at least supposed to. It's build 3008.
To all my freaks out there: HOLLA if ya hear me.

Conspiracy theory, yeah yeah thats it.
I just found it strange that the same day they announce that the RIAA is going to start collecting data and filing lawsuits that this patch comes out to plug a hole, that they just found, that would allow the RIAA guys to access and gather just that kind of data??? Yeah, OK maybe to much X-Files on Divx for me!

i'm sorry, but i do believe that in the near future we will have to worry about things like this.
    it's not all just paranoia!
and there's nothing wrong with speculating on the issue.
if we didn't question anything, we would all be a lot worse off.
i will not blindly believe that the RIAA wouldn't like to do awful, awful things to my computer and the files i have on it.
as far as MS is concerned...i will still be on my guard.
but in the end...just don't use it.
Winamp rules over that piece of dung anyhoo!
If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain
