Using emule now, should I switch to Shareaza?

I'm using emule now, while it's good the speeds are slow. I get about 2 to 5 Kb/sec.

I understand that Shareaza can connect to the emule network.

Does Shareaza have all the features that emule has?

Can I connect to specific severs like emule?

Does Shareaza support file hashing?

Can I bring my emule parital downloads to Shareaza?

Shareaza has alot of features but most of them are pretty useless for an ed2k user.

Should I switch to Shareaza?

no. shareaza has not implemented the credit system yet, so the downloads will be slower. Stick with emule, it is designed for nothing but the ed2k network, while ed2k is just an add-on in shareaza. It stands to reason that emule will support ed2k better than shareaza. Plus eMule is open source, so you can have more confidence in what it is doing to your PC, and to the ed2k network.

I agree with sticking with emule for the edonkey network.

I'm lucky to get a download started from the 'donkey network on shareaza let alone 2-5kb/sec.

Don't forget emule needs to be on all the time to get a higher place in the queues or higher speeds.

It's up to your preferance. I like Shareaza because it combines a lot of networks and saves me time because I don't have to bumble around with servers and lists and url crap stuff. Plus the interface is very customizable and intuitive.

I tried shareaza before I tried emule. emule is superior in lots of respects, you seem to find a bigger variety of high quality music rips,mostly rar archives using EAC and lame or ape. Also the variety of movies is excellent. Emule is great if you can leave your machine running for days at a time and it seems most people do, so you really get to download some very unusual stuff that never seems to surface anywhere else. Yes sometimes the speeds are slow on emule but they vary a lot. over the course of a day it may go from a 1k trickle up to a nice 55k (on my 64KBps cable) and everything in between. just keep uploading and you will keep downloading. Be patient! I have 64k d/l bandwidth so i am happy to be d/l 5 or 6 BIG files at once to maximise my connection. I can see it might be frustrating if you just go after one not so popular file at a time. So grab lots and offer lots!
Also Sharereactor is a very good reason to stick with emule. This is such a great service and a great way of finding out about different movies, games, software etc and getting users opinions of the quality of the d/l and of the app/movie/whatever.

you dont have to do this in emule either, it retrieves an updated server list automatically.

Im not sure why people always rave about the shareaza interface. I thought it was overcomplicated and kind of silly looking. eMule has a better interface.

shareaza is - for me - more unstable, and sometimes when it crashes it "forgets" the download, and you have to start over. This is NOT something youll apreciate after a day or two of downloading.
